Today’s car is a 1956 Cadillac Convertible Series 62 and is owned by Omar Prioleau. Omar is the second owner of this well kept car that needed some TLC. The first owner lived in Santa Barbara, CA. and was a well known icon driving around town on the weekends.
I saw this car at the 22nd Annual Hermosa Beach Endless Summer Fall Classic Car Show. It is finished in Goddess Gold no. 2 with a Sandalwood leather interior, convertible top and boot. It is powered by a 365 cu in V8 engine, with a Carter two-stage four-barrel carburetor that develops 285 hp and transfers that power through a 4 speed Hydra-Matic transmission. Delivering that power to the sabre-spoke 15 inch wheels through 3.07 to 1 rear end gear ratio. The suspension has independent coil springs up front along with live rear axle with semi-elliptic springs in the rear. Slowing it down it has a hydraulic power brake system with 12 inch drum brakes that are standard on all models. The original MSRP was $4,710.00. The total number of 1956 Cadillacs produced was 140,777 of which 134,502 were Series 62 and 8,300 of those were Convertibles.
