1936 Riley Monaco TT Sprite

Today’s car is a one of a kind 1936 Riley Monaco Tourist Trophy (TT) Sprite that was built by Rod Yates in 2018 and is co-owned by Rick and Randy. I photographed this car at Golden Cove the Mostly British Cars and Coffee event that gathers on the 3rd Sunday of every month that is located at 31176 Hawthorne Blvd, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. The car is finished in Riley Blue with a matching interior. It is powered by a Riley 12/4 engine with 12 taxable hp or 61 bhp, 1500 cc, straight 4 double under head cam engine, with semi hemispherical combustion chambers and twin SU carburetors and is mated to a Riley/Armstrong Siddeley pre-selector 4-speed gearbox with a 5.22:1 rear axle gear ratio. Slowing this beauty down are mechanical brakes in all 4-corners. The front and rear suspension are equipped with semi-ellipitical leaf springs with Andre Hartford Silentbloc shock absorbers for driving comfort.

In 1936 Riley produced was 5114 units. The published top speed of 88 MPH with a 0-50 mph time of 13 Seconds.

What a great car to take to British car shows, Cars and Coffee events or just a cruising up and down the coast in a one-off! Thank you for riding a long. Frank
