Today’s car is a 1972 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am 455 HO (High Output) 7.5L 300 HP done in Lucerne Blue with factory graphics. The 455 HO was the only engine available for the Trans Am in 1972. The instrumentation is housed in a turned-aluminum dash fascia panel and includes a 160-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer with an integrated clock. Wheels are the optional honeycomb-style alloy wheels wearing what looks like Kelsey Tire Inc. version of the Goodyear Polyglas GT tires. Due in part to a 174-day factory strike, this year was the lowest-production for the second-generation Firebird, when only 1,286 Trans Ams were built. List priced was $4,255.75. One very similar sold for $51,000 on Bring A Trailer (BAT). This car looks to be all original. Beautiful car.
Todays car in the hood is a Howie Margolies find at Zamperini Field at the Torrance Airport. Thanks Howie for sharing. Thanks for riding along. Frank
