Todays car is a 1968 Jaguar XKE Series 1 1/2 Convertible finished in Signal Red with Black Interior. I know the car in the feature picture is blue. Read on. It is owned by Al and Sue Peña. It is powered by a 4.2L / 257.5 cu in, inline six producing 255 hp . Transferring that power through a 4 – speed manual transmission and delivering that power to the rear wheels through 3.54 t0 1 gear ratio with independent rear suspension (IRS) axles. The 0 to 60 mph time is 6.1 seconds. Al’s father bought the car from Charles H. Hornburg Jr. Motor Cars located at 9334 Wilshire Blvd, Beverly Hills, CA on 12-03-1968 and paid $5555.50 for the car. The color combination of the car when purchased was Ice Blue with Blue interior. The car was painted in 1979 to its current color combination.
As you can see though the photos this car is very much a family member. The feature photo taken in 1972 is when Al was dating Sue in this car, Sue was 16 and the car was 3 1/2. They got married 1979 and car was in the wedding, Their daughter Alisa and her husband Adrian duplicated the event when they got married in 2014, Al still proudly drives it to car shows and cars and coffee events.
Great looking car and I particularly like it is a family member.
