Todays car is a ???? Well it is a 1967 P1800 Volvo scalpsured on to a 1992 C4 Corvette convertible fitted with an auxiliary hardtop. It is finished in Dark Green with a Black leather interior. It is powered by a LT1 350 cu in, 5.7 liter, OHV Multi-Port Fuel Injection V8 engine producing 300 hp and transferring that power through a 4-speed auto transmission. Delivering that power to the rear wheels through 2.59 to 1 as gear ratio. To help slow it down are 12 inch disc with ABS Power-Assist Vented Brakes. The 0-60 time is 5.6 Seconds with a top speed of 157 mph. There were 14,604 Corvette convertible built in 1992 and only 915 with an auxiliary hardtop. The MSRP for a base model Corvette convertible was $33,635.00 with an addition $1,995.00 for the auxiliary hardtop. The MSRP for a 1967 P1800 was base price $4,115.00. The 0-60 time is 11.9 seconds with a top speed claimed as 107 mph.
This car resembles a P1800 but, looks like a P1800 on steroides!!! I saw it at the ADM in El Segundo, CA at their Corvette show and it got a lot of attention. Jim Farley brought it to the show and is a representative of “The Garage” in Costa Mesa, CA. So this car is on the selling block.
I have always liked the looks of a P1800, but this one has a great look. Imagine if Volvo sold a P1800 that looked like this! OK, It would not meet their safety requirements, But, it would bad ass. A great driver with a unique look. It would be fun to take to to car shows, especially Corvette car shows and Cars and Coffee. Not everybody cup of tea, but it could be fun.
Thanks for riding along. Frank
