Today’s car is a 1961 Aston Martin DB4 Convertible with a Superleggra body from Touring of Milan. The convertible was introduced in October 1961. The exterior is finished in bright red with a Black interior and black convertible top & boot. I saw this car at The Point in El Segundo CA. It is powered by a 224 cu in, 3.7 liter, DOHC in-line 6 cylinder engine with three SU carburetors, producing 266 hp. Transferring that power through a 4 – speed manual transmission. Delivering that power to the rear wheels through a Salisbury Power-Lok differential with 3.31 t0 1 gear ratio. Slowing this baby down are Girling disc brakes all around. The front suspension is independent. The original MSRP was $11,250.00. The average retail price today is $1,145,100.00. The total number of 1961 Aston Martins produced was 1,110 units of which 70 were DB4 convertibles.
Very nice car to take a ride up the coast. It looked all original, maybe a survivor. Thanks for traveling along. Frank
