Today’s car is a 1952 Henry J Corsair Deluxe and it is owned by Chuck Mills. It is finished in Cardinal Maroon with a Maroon and period correct Beige patterned interior. It is powered by a small block Chevy with 350 cu in, 5.7 liter, V8 with a 4-bbl Edelbrock carburetor. Transferring that power to the rear wheels through 3-speed GM TH-350 automatic transmission to a Ford 8″ rear end with 3:55:1 final gear ratio. Helping slow this baby down are discs up front and drums in the rear. The front suspension is independent with a upgraded coil-over system guided by a rack and pinion steering setup. It the rear are longitudinal semi-elliptical leaf springs. The front and rear bumper over riders were remove for a clean look.
The Henry J was named after its chairman, Henry J. Kaiser. The founder of Kaiser Permanente and many other companies carrying the Kaiser moniker. Henry J’s were built from 1950 through 1954. The original MSRP was $1,664.00. The top speed was estimated at 77 mph with a 0 – 60 time of 20.5 seconds.
