Today’s car is a 1952 Jaguar Mark VII owned by Jim Baldwin. It is a project that started in October 2017 and is progressing along nicely. It is finished in a two tone combination of Prowler Flame Orange and White with a interior that is still To Be Determined (TBD). I saw this car at The Queen’s English all British Car Show in Woodley Park in Van Nuys, CA. It is powered by 2006 4QL (LS) from a GMC Serria that has a 364 cu in, 6.0 liter V8, with fuel injection, producing around 330 hp. Transferring that power to the rear wheels through 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission. Helping slow this baby down are hydraulic Corvette disc brakes all around. The suspension is from a 1984 Corvette, in the front is independent with coil springs and in the rear is independent with a transverse semi-elliptical spring.
The original 1952 MSRP was $4,170.00. The total number of Jaguars Mark VII’s produced was 20,908 over the production lifespan of 1950 to 1956 and 3,349 were produce in 1952. This car is a great example of what you can do with a car that is beyond restoration and just want to have some fun.
