Today’s car is a 1966 Pontiac GTO Hardtop. It is finished in Martinique Bronze with a Bronze interior. This is a street spot that I saw in my hood, Westchester, CA. It is powered by a 389.0 cu in, 6.5 L. V8, with a Carter AB 4-bbl carburetor, producing 335 hp. Power is sent to the rear wheels through 2-speed Hydramatic automatic transmission. Delivering that power to the rear wheels through 3.55 to 1 gear ratio. Slowing it down are four-wheel drum brakes with organic linings and it turned out to be inadequate in high-speed driving. The front suspension is Independent with coil springs with a anti-roll bar and in the rear is a live axle with coil springs. The original MSRP was $2,783.00. The total Pontiac production for 1966 was 831,331 and the total GTO production was 96,946 of which 73,785 were 2 door hardtops. Top speed of 121 mph with 0-60 mph at 7.9 seconds.
What a great street spot. This car is in remarkably good shaped and is car is ready for the Cars and Coffee circuit. Thanks for riding along. Frank
