Today’s car is a 1953 Cadillac Fleetwood 60 Special 4 – door sedan. It is finished in Black with a White and Black interior. Equipped with Hydro-electric power windows and seats, the car is powered by a 331 cu in, 5.4 liter, OHV V8, with Carter WCFB 4-barrel carburetor, producing 210 hp. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed Hydra-Matic automatic transmission. Delivering that power to the rear wheels through hypoid semi-floating differential with a 3.07 to 1 rear end. Helping slow this baby down are 4 wheel hydraulic drum brakes. The front suspension is independent knee action with helical coil springs and the rear suspension is semi-elliptical springs. The original MSRP was $4,300.00. The total number of 1953 Cadillacs produced was 109,651 of which 20,000 were Fleetwoods. The top speed was estimated to be 105 mph with a 0- 60 mph time @ 13.7 seconds.
I saw this car at Zimmerman Automobile Driving Museum in El Segundo, CA at the Cadillac Fest. This is a great example of the Fleetwood 4 – door sedan. Fun car for those weekend outings to the beach and looking impressive when you arrive! Thanks for riding along. Frank
