Today’s car is a 1956 Chrysler New Yorker St Regis two door hardtop with its unique three tone paint job. It is finished in a classic Black and Sand Dune Beige over Regimental Red with beautiful Red with White leather interior. I saw this car at The Zimmerman Automobile Driving Museum in El Segundo CA. It is powered by a 354 cu in, 5.8 liters, Hemi V8, engine producing 280 hp and transferring that power through a PowerFlite 2 – speed push button automatic transmission. Delivering that power to the rear wheels through 3.36 t0 1 rear end. Helping slow this baby down are power drum brakes. The Kelsey Hayes style chrome steel wire wheels are a very nice addition. The original MSRP was $3,889.00. The total number of 1956 Chryslers produced was 152,777 of which 41,140 were New York V8s produced and 6,686 were New Yorker St Regis two door coupes. Top speed was estimated at 115 mph. 0 – 60 time was 10 seconds.
Beautifully restored car that is sure to draw a small crowd. Thanks for traveling along. Frank
