Todays car is a 1950 Kaiser Virginian, 4-door hardtop that is finished in Glass Green with a matching interior and the roof is finished in Executive Green. It is proudly owned by Roy Sanders. I saw this rare car at the Ladera cars and coffee that meets the second and forth Saturdays every month. It is powered by a 226 cu in, 3.7 liter l head 6 cylinder with the new dual throat carbureator along with new dual-intake manifolds for a increase of 12 hp. This engine is producing 112 hp and transferring that power through a 3 speed synchronized manual transmission. If equipped with overdrive you would benefit from a 30% reduction in engine speed (RPMs) with out a reduction in car speed. Delivering that power to the rear wheels through a Hotchkiss 2 piece drive shaft with 3 universal joints and a mid car ball bearing mount, that eliminates the rear seat floor tunnel, to a Hypoid gear rear axle. To slow it down it has self centering, floating shoe brakes, hydraulic brakes at all 4 wheels and a mechanical hand brake operating the rear brakes. This was the first 4 door hardtop built in the USA with 986 producded. The original MSRP base price $2,995.
This is a very nice original car. Thanks for riding along. Frank
