Today’s featured vehicle is a 1932 Ford Open Cab Pickup owned by Jim and Maria Busch. I photographed this car at the LA Roadster Show which is held at the Fairplex in Pomona, CA on the Fathers Day weekend. It is finished in Lunar Rock with a light brown vinyl interior, a light brown Hartz cloth convertible top, and tonneau cover. It is powered by a Chevrolet 327 cu in V8 engine, with a Edelbrock Air Gap intake manifold. and an Edelbrock AVS-2 4-barrel carburetor it is mated to a 3-speed GM TH-350 automatic transmission with 3.00:1 rear axle gear ratio. Slowing this beauty down are disc brakes up front and drums in the rear. The front suspension is a solid front axle with a 4-inch drop, a single transverse semi-elliptical leaf spring and dual action shock absorbers. The rear suspension has a 9 inch Ford rear end with a single transverse semi-elliptical leaf spring, dual action shock absorbers, with ladder bars.
This car has virtually NO original parts. The classic was fabricated by Classic Street Rods. The body parts came from Brookville Roadster. It has Guide Style headlights, Ford taillights and Ameriacan Torque Thrust wheels. The interior was created by Elegance Auto Interiors augmented with Steward-Warner gages. Jim fabricated the solid tonneau cover. It has a custom built steering wheel and air and heat system. Jim and Maria are planning on taking a month long trip, about 5,000 miles. They are stopping at the Back to the 50’s Car Show, one of my favorites, this 3 day car event is located at the Minnesota state fairgrounds in St. Paul, MN. Only 10,000 cars this year, all 1964 and earlier.
This beautiful example of a early post war Classic Hot Rod that stopped me in my tracks. The colors, wheels, stance and a roadster pickup, it has it all. Stunning.
