Today’s car is a 1968 Ferrari 330 GTS Cabrio owned by Sandy Bettelman. I photographed this car while Sandy stopped by for a visit while out for a cruise. The car has been in the family for over 40 years. It is finished in metallic silver gray with a black leather interior , black convertible top, and a black boot. It is powered by a 300 hp, 4.0 liter Colombo V12 engine, with single overhead camshaft per bank, and 3 Weber 40 2bbl carburetor. It has a 5-speed manual transaxle transmission, a gated shifter, with a 3.32:1 final gear ratio. Slowing this beauty down are power assisted Girling disc brakes in all 4-corners. It has independent front and rear suspension with unequal-length wishbones, coil springs over telescopic shock absorbers, and an anti-roll bar. Features include 14″ Borrani wire wheels with three-eared knock-off hubs , power windows, Ansa exhaust tips and it has a 23.8 gallon gas tank.
Just a little side story The license plate US MR B is from the 1984 Olympics. This 39 year old license plate was originally Sandy’s father’s plate, then his mother’s plate, then his brother’s and now Sandy’s.
The 330 GT series was released at the 1966 Geneva Motor Show. They were produced from 1966 – 1968 with a total 0f 700 being produced of which 100 were GTSs. The published top speed of 146 mph with a 0-60 mph time of 6.9 seconds. This is a beautiful example of a rare all original car with 45,000 original miles on the odmeter. What a great car take to European and Italian car shows, Cars and Coffee events or just a cruising up and down the coast. Thank you for riding along. Frank
