Today’s car is a 1959 Chevy 2-door Wagon, owned by “Squid”, done in the most amazing Pistachio color of paint I have ever seen. This slammed 1959 Chevy two-door station wagon is well-known around the South Bay area. It is powered by a 454 big block massaged to 468 cu in, with a Edelbrock 750 4-barrel carburetor feeding it fuel, transferring the power through a 700R4 transmission, equipped with a shift kit. A nice street setup. The engine is dressed up with aluminum valve covers and a Mooneyes air cleaner, coupled with a chrome water pump, alternator, brackets and A/C compressor.
It took three different cars to build this one of a kind automobile Brookwood wagon. Two door 1959 Chevrolet wagons are rare. Tastefully customized at the front of the car, the horizontal nostrils openings just above the grill were filled, and the hood was reshaped. The stock grille was replaced by custom tube grill. Door handles were shaved and Impala trim was added to the sides. The rear door side windows were customized with one-piece glass. They used black paint on the rear corner window area, which creates the impression of one giant wrap-around window. And lets not forget the faux vent on the roof over the rear window, I think it is from a 1958 Chevy Impala wagon?
The interior is period stylish with seats adorned with metallic mint and green patterns. The gauges have been updated to digital Dakota,
The Green Machine is attached to a custom chassis that starts with the stock X-frame and control arms and has Fatman Fabrications 2-inch dropped spindles, Bilstein shocks, and RideTech air bags with an AccuAir e-Level system, plus front and rear anti-sway bars. Stopping this beauty is provided by Chevy 11-inch brakes at the front wheels and upgraded drums in the rear, plumbed to a black anodized billet aluminum master cylinder and Hydro-boost brake booster.
A combination of wide whitewalls, Astro Supremes five-spoke wheels the the slammed body give the Green Machine an eye appealing stance.
Scott Bonowski at Hot Rods & Hobbies in Signal Hill, California and the crew, are an AMBR award winning shop, got busy repairing, refreshing, and repainting the entire wagon taking it to this show level quality we see here today. What a beautiful and tastefully done automobile.
