Today’s car is a 1935 Chevrolet Master Deluxe Sport Coupe owned by Gary Martin. I saw this car at the 20th Annual San Juan Capistrano Classic Car Show held by their local Rotary Club. It is finished in black with a black leather interior. It is powered by a 350 cu in, small block Chevrolet V8, with a 4-bbl carburetor mated to a GM 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive and transferring that power to the 15″ chrome American Racing wheels. Slowing this baby down are discs in the front and drums in the rear.
I like the smooth clean look of this car that is achieved by the sleek black finish with just the right amount of chrome, the removing the bumpers, the removal of the rear mounted spare, the inset rear license plate, and the “frenched” 1959 Cadillac taillights. Two other features that aid in the look are the perfect stance and the original suicide doors.
The total 1935 Chevrolet production was 548,215 of which 346,439 of them were Master Deluxes and of them 11,901 were 5 passenger Sport Coupes. Master Deluxes accounted for over 63 percent of 1935 production, The MSRP Master Deluxe’s ranged from $560.00 to $675.00. Top Speed was estimated at 77 mph.
