Today’s vehicle s a 1992 Toyota Land Cruiser HZJ75 Fire Truck. This is a street spot, but what caught my attention is the small size of the fire truck, being a right hand drive and what appears to be Japanese writing on the fire controls. It is finished in Fire Engine Red with a Charcoal Gray interior. OK, the puns were intended. It is powered by a 256 cu in, 4.2 liter, inline 6 cylinders Turbo Diesel producing 240 hp. Power is sent through a five-speed manual transmission and to all four wheels through a transfer case with high/low range. Helping slow this baby down are power disc brakes all around. The suspension is solid front and rear axles with semi-elliptical leaf springs both front and rear.
This HZJ75 fire truck does not have an onboard water tank, but it does have the ability to pump water out of a nearby water source using onboard hoses with bamboo water filters to fight fires in most locations. This style Land Cruiser fire trucks were built to navigate smaller communities and tighter streets throughout Japan. A similar one just sold recently on Bring a Trailer for $29,000.00.
This fire truck is a unique vehicle that would be fun to have at car shows and Cars and Coffee events. Thanks for riding along. Frank
