Todays car is a 1976 Cadillac Castillian Fleetwood Estate Wagon. You ask what is a Castillian. Before the Escalade and the CTS Sport Wagon cars like this 1976 Cadillac Castilian Fleetwood Estate Wagon were the elegant shooting brake blend of luxury and utility. Celebrity owners including the legendary “Rat Pack” members Sammy Davis Jr. and Dean Martin and the daredevil Evil Knievel. I saw this wagon at the Point, Manhattan Beach Cars & Coffee 8-10AM North East corner of Sepulveda Blvd and Rosecrans Ave.
It is finished in Brentwood Brown with a Antique Light Buckskin interior. Showing just 45,700 miles on the odometer, it is powered by a 500 cu in, 8.2 liter, with fuel injection, V8 engine producing 190 hp. Transferring that power through a 3 – speed Turbo Hydra-Matic transmission. Delivering that power to the rear wheels through 3.15 t0 1 rear end gear ratio. Helping slow it down are power brakes disc up front and drums in the rear. Suspension is independent coil springs up front and coil spring trailing arms in the rear. The Kelsey-Hayes style spoke wheels give this wagon a true classic look.
The original MSRP in 1976 was approximately $30,000.00. About 3 times the cost of a regular Cadillac. The total number of Cadillac Castillian. produced was approximately 50 with 11 built in 1976.
The Cadillac Castillian Fleetwood Estate Wagon was produced by Traditional Coach Works LTD. based in Chatsworth, California, They also produced the Mirage the two-door Cadillac pickup referred to as the “Mirage Sport Wagon”.
This is a rare original and beautiful example of the mid 70s classics. Thanks for riding along. Frank
