1971 Plymouth Satellite Road Runner

Last updated on October 26, 2024

Today’s car is a 1971 Plymouth Satellite Road Runner 440 owned by Joshua Perahia. It is finished in Sassy Grass Green with a White interior. I saw this car at the Endless Summer Car Show held in Hermosa Beach, CA. It is powered by a 385 hp, 440 cu in, 7.2 liter V8, with a Edelbrock Carburetor. Transferring that power to the rear wheels through 3-speed B&M automatic transmission with a 3500 stall speed torque converter and delivering that power to the rear wheels through 4.10:1 rear end. Helping slow this baby down are disc brakes up front and drum brakes in the rear. The Extra Heavy-Duty Suspension, which included .92 inch torsion bars, as well as semi-elliptical leaf springs with an additional leave.

The MSRP for the Base Road Runner price was $3,147.00 and GTX was $3,733.00. The total number of 1971 Plymouth Road Runners built was 14,218 of those, 13,664 were for domestic sales while 554 were manufactured for export. This car marks the last of the truly great muscle cars an era that lasted less than a decade, This is a great car that will catch your attention at car shows and Cars and Coffee events. Thanks for riding along. Frank
