Today’s car is a 1967 Renault Caravelle Convertible. It is finished in Green Metallic with a Black interior and a black convertible top & boot, The owner of this car is Joe Hernandez. I saw this car at the French / Italian car show at Woodley Park in Van Nuys, CA on November 7th, 2021. It is powered by a RWD, 1.1 liter, in-line 4 cylinder engine producing 57 hp and transferring that power through a fully synchronized 4-speed manual transmission. Delivering that power to the rear wheels through 4.12 to 1 rear end. Helping slow this baby down are 4-wheel Bosch disc brakes. The front suspension is independent with double wishbone, coils springs and the rear is independent with swing axle, coil springs
The original invoice price was $2,270.00. Check out the original invoice, and especially check out the trade-in! I love it. They were produced from 1958–1968, outside of North America and Britain it was, until 1962, marketed under the nameplate Renault Floride. The total number of Renaults Caravelles produced was 117,113. The top speed is 90 mph as declared by the factory with a 0 t0 60 mph at 19.4 seconds.
This is a great looking Renaults and this 1967 Caravelle convertible ranks high as a favorite of mine at the French / Italian car show . It is very well done restoration but, for me it is all about the Green Metallic paint. Great color and a cool car. Thanks for riding along. Frank
