Last updated on May 17, 2022

Today’s car is a 1967 Bristol 409 Saloon owned by Tom Trafton. It is finished in Midnight Blue and the interior is finished in Warm Stone leather with Dark Blue piping. I saw this car at The Queen’s English all British Car Show in Woodley Park in Van Nuys, CA. This aluminum hand-formed bodied car is powered by Chrysler 318 cu in, 5.2 Liter, V8, with a Carter AFB 4-barrel carburetor, producing 250 hp. Transferring that power to the rear wheels through 3-speed push-button TorqueFlite automatic transmission and delivering that power to the rear wheels through 3.07:1 rear end. Helping slow it down are four-wheel Girling disc brakes. The front suspension is independent with coil springs and in the rear are watts linkage with torsion bar springs.

The original MSRP was a daunting $11,265.00. The total number of 1967 Bristol 409’s produced was 79 and this car is the 79th. Top speed of over 125 miles per hour with a 0-60 mph time of 8.8 seconds. This cars is very rare and represent a beautiful example of a hand-built luxury automobiles. It is sure to draw attention and any car event it attends. Thanks for riding along. Frank
