Today’s car is 1964 Ford Falcon Sprint convertible done in Guardsman Blue with a dark blue interior. This is a second generation of Falcon produced between 1964 – 1965. There were 4,274 Sprint convertibles produced in 1964. Ford added the Sprint Package, which gave the Falcon the Fairlane’s V8, a stiffer suspension, and a louder exhaust. The Sprint was overshadowed by the Mustang, and was discontinued after 1965. Powered by a 289 cu in 4.7L delivering 164 HP. There were 4 transmission options 3-speed automatic, 3-speed manual, 4-speed manual and a 2-speed automatic (Ford-o-matic). The bluer than blue top replaced the original style black vinyl top. Sporting Cragar wheels and a dash mounted tachometer are nice touches.
Thanks to Al Peña for sharing Grady’s Falcon that he spotted at a local gas station. Al said Grady is a local guy despite the AZ plates. This is a nice car and would be great for going to local Saturday and Sundays Cars and Coffees along with some PCH cruises up and down the coast. Top down of coarse! Thanks for riding along. Frank
