Today’s car is a 1959 Corvette Restomod owned by comedian Kevin Hart. I photographed this car at the 19th annual Motor 4 Toys Toy Drive held at Pierce College in Woodland Hills ,CA. It is finished in PPG’s Fanny Green with a Linen color leather interior, and a Stayfast Chocolate Brown convertible top. It is powered by C8 Corvette Engine with 460hp, 376 cu in, 6.2 liter, LT1 V8 with direct fuel injection mated to 4- speed 4L75E overdrive automatic transmission. Slowing this beauty down are Wilwood disc brakes with C7 Corvette calipers. It sits on a C7 frame that has been powder coated in Cadillac Grey and upgraded with an Art Morrison front suspension with fully adjustable Strange Engineering coil overs at all four corners. The Bluetooth audio system designed to look just like the original Wonder Bar radio, the EVOD industry’s one-off wheels, made to look in the original style hubcaps and the shaved Nitto tires with white walls added help to maintain the car’s retro look. Other upgrades are rack and pinion steering, Dakota Digital gauges, an automatic three-position electric hood, and LED lighting just to name a few.
There were 9,670 Corvettes produced in 1959 and they were all convertibles. The base price was $3,875.00. The original published top speed was 128 mph with a 0 – 60 time was 6.6 seconds. Kevin’s 1959 Corvette went for $825,000.00 at Barret-Jackson’s Scottsdale Auction, This is a beautiful eye catching, original bodied restomod that will be the center of attention where ever it is shown. Thanks for riding along. Frank
