Today’s truck is a 1957 Chevrolet Cameo Carrier 3124 1/2 ton pickup. It is finished in a two-tone combination of Onyx Black and Indian Ivory with a Black and White interior. I saw this truck at the Marina del Rey Cars and Coffee that meets every Sunday from 7-9 AM located between Fiji Way and Mindanao Way on 4724 1/2 Admiralty Way at the Starbucks.
It is powered by a 283 cu in, 4.64 liter, V8, producing 165 hp. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 3 speed manual transmission. Delivering that power to the rear wheels through 3.55 to 1 gear ratio. Slowing this baby down are 11″ drum brakes. Suspension is I-beam with parallel semi-elliptical leaf springs up front and parallel semi-elliptical leaf springs in the rear with double actions shocks absorbers all around. The MSRP was $2,273.00. The Cameo’s were produced from 1955 to 1958. The total number of Chevrolet Cameo’s produced was 10,320 of which 2,244 were 1957s.
It is a rare sight to see a Chevrolet Cameo. This is a great example of a restored 1957 Cameo. What a great truck to take to cruise nights, car shows, and Cars and Coffee events. Thanks for riding along. Frank
