Today’s car is a 1957 Chevrolet 2 Door Station Wagon done in Larkspur Blue, India Ivory, and primer. I spotted this beauty coming back from a local grocery store run. As I pulled up a women was walking out of their house and I asked if I could take some photos. She said yes and that her husband would be thrilled. She said he has big plans for it. She went on to tell me that across the street in her mother-in-laws garage is a 1965 Jaguar XKE that was given to the her by her mother-in-law. But, she can’t drive it because she does not know how to drive a stick shift. OMG. She did not offer for me to see the Jaguar and I left it at that.
Back to the 57. It is really hard to tell what I am looking at here. I know that it is a 2 door wagon, It looks like the side trim holes have been filled in, So is it a Two-Ten 2 Door Handyman or a One-Fifty 2 door Handyman? There were 14,740 One-Fifty 2 door Handymans and 17,528 Two-Ten 2 Door Handymans that were built. So your guess is as good as mine. I know it is a V8, now things are looking up. I did not see the shift lever in Park so I think it is 3-speed manual transmission. There were 6 V8 engines to chose from in 1957. I think it a 283 ci 220 HP engine with dual exhaust? Dual exhaust did come standard on higher performance V8’s starting with the 220HP.
V8 Engine options
V-8 265ci, 8.0:1 comp ratio, 162 HP@4400 rpm, 2bl carb
3 speed transmission, 3 speed overdrive transmission
V-8 283ci, 8.5:1 comp ratio, 185 HP@4600 rpm, 2bl carb
Powerglide transmission and Turboglide transmission

V-8 283ci, 9.5:1 comp ratio, 245 HP@5000 rpm, 2-4’s
3 speed transmission, Powerglide & Turboglide transmission
V-8 283ci, 9.5:1 comp ratio, 250 HP@5000 rpm, FI
3 speed transmission, Powerglide & Turboglide transmission
V-8 283ci, 9.5:1 comp ratio, 270 HP@6000 rpm, 2-4’s

Is that a Mag wheel in the left rear wheel? This is definitely a project car, with tons of potential. All you need is time and money. I can see it as a Resto-mod. Check out the last photo.
Thanks for riding along. Frank
