Today’s car is a 1952 Pontiac Chieftain and it is finished in Forest Green #10 with a fawn and green interior. Michael Field is the 3rd owner of this nicely restored car. I saw this car at Caffeine Cruisers in Torrance, CA. It is powered by a 268 cu in, 4.4 liter, in-line 8 cylinder engine, with a Carter WCD 720S 2 bbl carburetor producing 118hp. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 4-speed Hydra-matic automatic transmission. Delivering that power to the rear wheels through 3.08 to 1 gear ratio. Helping slow this baby down are hydraulic 11 inch drum brakes. The original MSRP was $2,031.00. The total number of 1952 Pontiac Chieftain’s was 277,156 of which 218,602 were Chieftain Eights with Hydra-matic transmissions. This cars was produced in South Gate, CA and its production number is 19,631. The 0-60 mph time.was 14.9 seconds with a top speed of 82 mph theoretical.
This is a great looking car with long and sleek body lines. What a great car to take to Coffee and Cars, car shows, and maybe pulling up in front of your favorite burger joint for lunch! Nice! Thanks for riding along. Frank
