1952 Hudson Hornet

Last updated on February 2, 2022

Today’s car is a 1952 Hudson Hornet 2 door Hardtop Hollywood. It is finished a two-tone combination of Toro Red and a French Gray with a matching red interior. I saw this car at Caffeine Cruisers in Torrance, CA It is owned by Richard Tupper. It is powered by a 308 cu in, in line 6 cylinder, Twin H-Power, with dual Carter single-barrel carburetors, producing 170 hp.. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 4 -speed Hydramatic automatic transmission and delivering that power to the rear wheels through torque tube drive shaft. Helping slow this baby down are drum brakes. Suspension is independent coil springs up front and in the rear are semi-elliptical springs.. The original MSRP was $3,070.00. The total number of 1952 Hudsons produced was 70,000 of which 35,921 were Hudson Hornets and 2,160 of them were Hollywood 2 door hardtops.

This is a great example of what Hudson was producing. The step-down design dramatically lowered the Hudson’s center of gravity and improved its handling. This restored Hudson is a rare car for car shows and Cars and Coffee events. It is sure to draw a curious crowd. Thanks for riding along. Frank

Note, 12 volt conversion.
