1951 Henry J

Today’s Car is a 1951 Henry J. Custom Coupe owned by Knute Grani. I saw it at The Zimmerman Automobile Driving Museum Gasser Show in El Segundo, CA. It is finished in a House of Kolors Brandywine Kandy paint with a luxurious tan interior with soft leather seats. It is powered by a 392 cu in Hemi with dual Quick Fuel 750 CFM 4 barrel carburetors sitting on top of a Weland 671 blower producing around 700 hp. Transferring that power through a dual plate clutch and a 5 speed Tremec TKO series transmission. Delivering that power to the rear wheels through Currie 9 inch rear end with 4.11 to 1 gear ratio. The front suspension is Kugel independent system. Helping slow it down are Wilwood disk brakes in all 4 corners. The rear wheels have been moved forward 10 inches giving the car a 90 inch wheelbase and an aggressive racing stance.

I have to say this is one of the nicest looking Henry Js or should I say “Hemi Js” I have seen. Thanks for traveling along. Frank

Ruth was Knute’s mothers name. “Lil Ruthie” this car is dedicated to her.
