Today’s car is a 1951 Chevrolet Fleetline Deluxe 4 door sedan and it is a street spot. It is finished in a Honeydew with a two-tone Gray interior. It is powered by a 105 hp, 235.5 cu in, 3.9 liters inline OHV six, with Rochester 1-barrel carburetor. Transferring that power to the rear wheels through 3-speed manual with 4.11:1 gear ratio. Helping slow this baby down are hydraulic 11 inch drum brakes all around. The front suspension is independent with heavy duty coil springs over double action hydraulic shock absorbers with a ride stabilizer. In the rear are semi-elliptical springs with double action hydraulic shock absorbers.
The original MSRP was $1,680.00. The total number of 1951 Chevrolets was 1,229,986, there were 189,603 of the 1951 Fleetline Deluxe’s produced of which 57,693 were 4 door 6 passenger sedans. The top speed was 75 mph with a 0-60 time of 19.8 seconds. This is a clean looking nostalgia piece that inspires memories at car shows and Cars & Coffee events. Thanks for riding along. Frank
