Today’s car is a 1934 Ford Hi-Boy “Modified” 3 Window Coupe owned by Sam Maus. I saw this car at the 22nd Annual Hermosa Beach Endless Summer Fall Classic Car Show.
It is finished in 1956 Cadillac Rosewood Red with a Saddle Brown interior. It is powered by a 350 cu in, 5.7 liter, Chevy V8 producing 500 hp and transferring that power through a 700R4 4 speed automatic transmission. Delivering that power to the rear wheels through a Kugel 9” Ford rear end with 3.70 to 1 gears. I believe the car is sitting on a complete Kugel chassis which has both IFS and IRS with disc brakes all around.
The original MSRP for a 1934 3 window coupe was $520.00. The total number of 1934 Fords produced was 563,921 of which 47,625 were 3 window coupes. The top speed was 65 mph with a 0 to 60 mph was at 17 seconds.
This is a beautiful modified car that will hold its own at any car show. Built to show and drive in comfort. Beautiful. Thanks for riding along. Frank
